Information for Voters
The elections for the constituted student body (VS) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) are coming up! Here you'll find all the important information to cast your vote and actively shape student participation.
Who can vote?
All enrolled students at KIT are eligible to vote – whether you're a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD student – every vote counts.
It's best to double-check the voter registry beforehand to ensure your faculty is listed correctly.
What is being elected?
You are electing representatives for the following bodies:
Student Parliament (StuPa) The StuPa is the highest decision-making body of the constituted student body. It consists of 25 elected members who vote on central topics such as:
the VS budget (e.g. how much money goes to culture, sustainability, or student groups),
political positions (e.g. on tuition fees or science policy),
statutes and regulations (e.g. financial or election regulations),
and support for projects (e.g. initiatives, events).
StuPa meetings are public, and you are welcome to attend, follow the discussions, or participate yourself.
Faculty Boards (Fachschaftsvorstände) The faculty boards represent the students within each faculty. They are the core of your student council (Fachschaft) and handle:
organizing orientation events, student parties, and exam archives,
representing your interests in faculty committees (e.g. study commissions, exam boards),
offering advice on studies, exams, or timetables,
and facilitating communication between students and teaching staff.
Each faculty board is made up of several active students who regularly hold meetings and plan activities – directly for you and your program.

Why is my vote important?
Your vote determines the budget, events, and political direction of the VS.
Only through participation can students effectively speak up and take part.
A high voter turnout strengthens the legitimacy of the student bodies with KIT and the state of Baden-Württemberg.
Plus, it shows you care about your studies and student engagement.
Get involved – for a supportive, democratic, and vibrant student life at KIT!
